A year ago actor turned director Mahesh was waiting in the doorsteps of her house at Bangalore, for casting her as the heroine of the movie ‘Calendar’. But Sumalatha couldn't give a positive nod to the film due to the Lok Sabha elections of the time, in which her husband Ambareesh was also a candidate. Later Mahesh managed to complete the movie by bringing in Zarina Wahab for the role.
But now as Major Ravi has approached the star for his new military flick 'Kandahaar', Sumalatha immediately agreed to be in the film with not many second thoughts.
