Acclaimed film director Sathyan Anthikkad today said the Malayalam film industry was well on course to revival and that movies striving to portray subtle human and other contemporary social issues have been well received by film lovers.
"The 80's could well be considered the "Golden era" of the industry, after which most films failed to touch on the subtle human and other social issues, leading to poor response from film enthusiasts," Anthikkad said.
He said the crisis in the Malayalam film world in recent years could be addressed if film workers and producers strive to gauge the pulse of the filmgoer and reflect them in their works.
However,it would not be wise to script a film anticipating that fans of the day expect certain formulae, taking into account changing tastes, Anthikkad, whose latest release and 50th venture Katha Thudaram has received tremendous response, said at a meet-the-press programme here.
