Manisha Koirala, once a leading actress in Bollywood, is making her debut in Malayalam with
director Shyamaprasad’s ‘Elektra’.
The director is renowned for his representation of complex human emotions. This time too, his film deals with turbulent relationships within a family. The movie is based on a classic Greek play. Prakashraj plays the male lead.
Director Shyamaprasad said, “This film is based on one of the plays I studied during my days in the School of Drama, Thrissur. I always wished to adapt it on screen”.

Nayantara is essaying the title role of ‘Elektra’, who is the daughter of Prakash and Manisha. Nayantara is very excited about her role of Elektra Alexander, who has a troubled family background. Actors Skanda, Biju Menon, P Sreekumar and KPAC Lalitha are playing other important roles in the film. Sanu J Verghese, the man behind the camera of the Hindi film ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’, is the cinematographer. Alphons Joseph (of the song ‘Aaromale’ from ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’) is composing music for the film.
Under the banner of Rasika Entertainment, Vindhyan, a close buddy of Shymaprasad, is producing ‘Elektra’.
The film is likely to hit theatres during the festival of Onam.
